Virgil Abloh "Figures of Speech"

Not long ago I found myself in Chicago with enough time to visit one of my favourite museums in the world, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. I first visited about two years ago during Takashi Murakami’s “The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg” exhibit and was lucky enough to find myself back just in time for their presentation of Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech”. Throughout a number of rooms, I was able to experience Abloh’s creativity across numerous mediums such as fashion, sculpture, architecture and installation. With my own immigrant family story, I take great inspiration from Virgil Abloh as he’s built his empire without existing legacy or networks, and while doing so, he’s created space and a platform for new talents representing minority groups. His story and his contributions are an indication of the need and benefit of diverse perspectives and contributors. A lot is possible when you mix hard work, vision and authenticity together….don’t doubt it.
